Jewellery by Lora Leedham is devoted in creating individual pieces which you can fall in love with and to be able to enjoy your piece time and time again for many years to come. By following our simple care procedure, you can ensure your piece continues to look beautiful.
·Always protect your jewellery from sharp blows, scratching, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold. Ideally, store your jewellery in boxes. Try to keep pieces apart, so that they don't rub together or tangle up. ·Wear jewellery for appropriate tasks, avoid wearing rings when cleaning, gardening or performing sports activities. This will avoid the jewellery being knocked, scratched and sweat will also tarnish metals. ·Don't let your jewellery come into contact with nail polish removers, perfume, hairspray and body creams.
·Showering with jewellery on can cause tarnishing.
·Wear your jewellery regularly to avoid tarnishing.
·Never go swimming in your jewellery, chlorine in swimming pools can cause damage.
Cleaning your jewellery once it is at home...
Tarnishing—Silver will tarnish so use a non abrasive silver polish or silver cloth.
Sparkle—To get your jewellery sparkling again (with an exception to pearls and emeralds as these are porous), leave to soak in a bowl of warm water with a mild detergent, using a soft bristle toothbrush to clean (harder bristles can leave small scratches on metals). Rinse under water and dry using a soft cloth.
Pearls—Pearl jewellery should be worn as a final touch, apply all creams, make up and style hair first as chemicals can damage the pearls. Some pearls can be cleaned using a very mild detergent, but if you are unsure, contact Jewellery by Lora Leedham and a professional cleaning service is available. Do not place pearls in silver dip products.
Gemstones—Some stones may be brittle or porous, if unsure of the best way to clean, please contact and advice or a professional cleaning service is available.
Matt Finish— Some pieces may have a satin finish applied to the metal, over time, the surface can become polished, if this happens it is not a problem, a re-finish can be applied.
Gold Plating—Some pieces may have a contrasting plating detail added to them, this is where microns are fused to the surface of the metal, if looked after, the plating should last over a long period of time, however a re-finish can be applied.
Oxidising—Parts of your jewellery may have oxidised detailing, do not place this in silver dips, instead soak in mild soapy water and dry carefully.
